Pauline "Polly" A. Iannizzaro, 75, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 19, 1934 in Warren, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lillian Mocella Litz.
Pauline was a life long resident of Warren, a graduate of Leavittsburg High School and a member of St. Mary Parish in Warren.
She married Robert "Slim" Iannizzaro and together they started a family. She became the loving mother of 5 daughters. After her children were of school age, Polly began working as a secretary at Horace Mann Elementary School where the students and staff lovingly referred to her as "Miss Polly".
Pauline retired from Warren City Schools to become a mighty warrior in a fifteen year battle with cancer. Polly won that battle, as it was not the cancer that ultimately took her away from us.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 55 years, Robert Iannizzaro and her 5 daughters, Bobbi (Dennis) Leonard of Warren, Nancy (Craig) Charnas of Cortland, Julie (Rick) Wyand of Warren, Mary Beth (Randy) Crawford of Knoxville, TN., and Susan (John) Norman of Girard.
She will also be sadly missed by her 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Virginia Blauvelt of Garrettsville, OH., Toni Gurda of Twinsburg and Veronica Steinbeck of Leavittsburg.
To capture the spirit and essence of Polly in words is an impossible task. Loving her family was her priority. To have 17 grandchildren and the ability to make them all feel as if they were the "only one", is an amazing feat. She accomplished it with ease. She saturated our lives with her unselfish love and that will be so sadly missed. She lovingly touched the lives of all that knew her.
Polly also enjoyed Bingo and was an avid Cavs fan. She maintained a high level of physical fitness throughout her entire life, as walking was a favorite pastime. Polly was also the number one fan of all her grandchildren at all of their sporting events.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 5 PM - 7 PM at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Mary Church on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating.
Material contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley in her memory.
