Obituary:

Melvin Dean Haines, Sr., 74 years old, of Bradenton Florida, formerly of Champion, Ohio, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 5:00 AM at his home in Bradenton.

 

He was born July 1, 1935 in Windham, the son of the late Melvin Otto and Vina Doll Haines.

 

Melvin was honorably discharged from the Air Force, where he served four years in the strategic Air Command.

 

He retired from First Place Bank in 2000.

 

Mr. Haines was a former member of the Believers Christian Fellowship in Warren and was a member of Family Fellowship in Bradenton; he enjoyed sharing his faith.

 

Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Kitchin, whom he married on November 11, 1961; two sons, Daniel (Michelle) Haines and Melvin Dean Haines, Jr. both of Bradenton; two daughters, Nancy (Randy) Skaggs and Judy Haines both of Champion; nine grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Don (Beth) Haines of Bradenton, Jerry (Peggy) Haines Cortland, Ruth (Bob) Wishart of Leavittsburg, Edith Samson of Champion, Norma (Dick) Webb of Warren, Thelma (Bob) Winkle of Canfield, Jane Molinatto of Champion and Peggy (Don) Miller of Bradenton, FL.

 

Other than his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Kerr and Erma Bayus and one brother, Ed Haines.

 

Funeral services will be held on 11AM, Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where family and friends may visit on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 2-5 PM. Family and friends may also visit one hour prior to the service on Monday. Pastor Bill Carter will officiate the services.

 

Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.
