Obituary:

On November 18 Sally "Lynn" Lockwood was suddenly called to her heavenly home. With her circle of family and friends at her bedside, Lynn departed this life leaving a deep sadness in her loving husband, George B. Lockwood, her daughter, son, sister, brother, and a host of other friends and family.

Lynn was so in love with her husband, George, and since retiring to Sarasota in 2000, they enjoyed many trips, and adventures with the Navy Submarine Vets (USSVI) groups. Most recently Lynn and George traveled to their respective 30 year high school reunions. Lynn graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, Warren, Ohio in 1959.  She subsequently graduated from Kent State University, Trumbull Campus, where she was employed as assistant to the Director for a number of years, prior to being the Director of Admissions at St. Joseph's Riverside Hospital, in Warren.

Born to Ralph H. and Margaret Henderson Hassell on July 16, 1941 in Ellwood City, PA. Lynn was the eldest of four siblings. She leaves in this life, her sister Gail (Mike) Cantelmo, of Warren, Ohio, her brother Douglas (Pat) Hassell of Miami Florida, she was preceded in death by her brother Alan Hassell of Warren, She also had two children that she thought the world of, her daughter, Rhonda J. Lockwood and her beloved son Jason B. Lockwood both living in Gainesville, Florida.

Lynn was the consummate planner and entertainer, making every occasion a delightful event to be remembered. Most recently, she had been actively planning the wedding of her only son to Margaret "Peggy" Panagis- Fraser.

Lynn was retired in the year 2000 from PCK Enterprises of Denton, Texas. She worked for Peter C. Kern, starting as a secretary at Gillette's Country Place Nursing Facility in Warren, Ohio, and working her way up to retire as the Senior Vice President of Operations for one of the largest healthcare corporations in America. She traveled to and oversaw nursing home operations from coast to coast. She retired to Sarasota, Florida in July 2000 with her husband to build their dream home and enjoy retirement. They enjoyed movies, family, and friends, but most of all each other.

Lynn was known for her spirit of generosity, compassion, and her unique trait to make even the most mundane task appear to be an unforgettable event. She had a drive for life, a passion for food and wine, and entertaining. She was loved and admired by many friends and business associates. She portrayed a sense of style, beauty and grace that was enviable. Lynn was a wonderful letter writer and she was also noted for her perfect penmanship. Her garden was always blooming with gardenias and roses, her favorites.

Initial arrangements were entrusted to the Toale Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota, Florida.  Locally, the family will meet friends at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 10, 2009.  Condolences can be sent online at carlwhall.com.
