Genevieve Whipkey, age 91, died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 5:00 PM at her home in Cortland.

She was born September 27, 1918 in Harts Run, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Wychoff Moose.

Genevieve was the owner and operator of Whipkey Trucking Company, retiring in 1981. She was a long time member of the Warren Salvation Army. She enjoyed reading her Bible, gospel music and visiting with family and friends.

Genevieve is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn (Art) Seljan of Cortland; daughter in-law, Marilyn Whipkey of Champion; five grandchildren, Ronald (Margaret) Whipkey, Timothy (Ann Marie) Whipkey, Thomas (Crystal) Whipkey, James (Patti) Whipkey and Lori (Bradley) Betts; seven great grandchildren, David (Teresa) Whipkey, Jonathon Whipkey, Brandon Whipkey, Emma Whipkey, Claire Whipkey, Gavin Betts, Hyla Betts and Anya Betts and three great great grandchildren, Sydney, Cadence and Callie Whipkey.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph D. Whipkey, whom she married on May 19, 1936; her son, William Whipkey; three sisters, Mildred Soles, Wilma Whipkey and Ruth Whipkey; five brothers, Carl, Lloyd, Roy, Jack and John Moose.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 5 PM - 7 PM at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Pineview Memorial Park.
