Helen Ann Kolovich, 80 years old, of Champion Twp., died, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at St. Joseph Health Care Center in Warren.

She was born February 20, 1929 in Acmetonia, PA, the daughter of the late Ivan and Mary Sostrich Yurchick.

Helen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Warren. She retired in 1992 after 13 years of service as a custodian in the Champion School District. Mrs. Kolovich had served as President of the SNPJ Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, homemaking, crossword puzzles, reading, polka dancing and her grandchildren and their activites. Helen loved spending time with her family and enjoyed preparing the holiday dinners for her family and friends.

Helen is survived by her husband, Louis Kolovich, whom she married on May 1, 1954; three daughters, Sue Vajda and Karen Carpenter both of Vienna and Julie (Dan) Belden of Champion; one sister, Mildred Anderson of Natrona Hgts., PA; five grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Lockney, Drew Carpenter, Danny (Shayna) and Kayla Belden and Timmy Vajda; one great grandson, Byron Belden.

Other than her parents, Helen was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Stanley and Steve Yurchick and two sisters, Barbara Cortese and Mary Woiewodski and a granddaughter, Kimberly Vajda.

Family and friends may visit from 6-8 PM, Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 10 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2010. Morning prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:20 AM on Saturday. Rev. Fr. Bernard Schmalzried will celebrate the Mass.

Interment will be in Meadow Brook Memorial Park, Champion.
