Chester J. Guzowski, "Chet", age 60 of Champion, Ohio, formerly of Geneva, Ohio, passes away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:20 PM at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio after suffering a massive heart attack while on a hunting trip with his friends.
He was born on October 20, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Chester V. and Irene May Guzowski. He grew up in Mentor Headlands, Ohio. He graduated from Mentor High School in 1967 and attended two years at KSU for a Tool and Die Certification.
He was currently employed with Delphi Packard Electric as a Tool and Die Maker since 1985. He moved his family to Champion, Ohio in July of 1991.
He was a member of AA since November 1994 and very active in the field of Recovery such as taking AA into NEOCAP, sponsoring new men and being the alternate EAP Rep. at his place of employment. He was also a lifetime member of The Sahara Club II, the only sober club in Trumbull County. He loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was also an avid carpenter. Chet loved to ride his "Fat Boy".
He was proceded in death by his parents and his step-father, William M. Campbell; one sister Virginia Zeiler Cappella and half sister, Victoria Campbell.
Chet is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Theresa Pavoll, whom he married on April 26, 1974; one son, Jeremy J. Guzowski; two daughters, Erin M. and Julie R. Guzowski; his only grandson, Reece "Owen" Siner; his brother, Joe Guzowski, his sister, Marilyn Guzowski Miller, his half sister, Michale Campbell Ireland and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at The Sahara Club II, 2345 Youngstown Warren Road, Warren, Ohio at 2 PM, Sunday, January 17, 2010 for all of his family and friends to celebrate his life.
Family and friends may visit from 1-2 PM at The Sahara Club II prior to the celebration.
The family requests that no flowers be sent and that material contributions be made to his family or to the Club.
Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
