Obituary: Gerald O. Carmen, "Jerry", 87 years old, of Leavittsburg, died Monday, January 18, 2010, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born June 25, 1922 in Pomeroy, Ohio a son of the late Wade Carmen and Mae Bradshaw Carmen. Gerald married Helen Elizabeth Kovach on December 20, 1944.
He had worked as a laborer at Polson Rubber for 32 years and then as a maintenance worker for
the Johnson Community Center and most recently at ITT Grinnell for 2 years.
Gerald was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, former treasurer of the Union at Polson Rubber, had been a Trustee of Leavittsburg Evangelical Church. He was an honorary member of the Ravenna Moose Lodge.
Surviving are a son, Gary (Sandra) Carmen of Champion, 2 daughters, Linda Beathe of Leavittsburg and Sandra (Terry) Thorpe of Warren, 2 granddaughters, Nicole (David) Mooney and Dawn Thorpe, 3 grandsons, Seth (Katie) Carmen and Travis and Michael Thorpe, and 1 great grandson, Noah Mooney. Six brothers, Virgil Carmen of Cleveland, TN, Gene Hunt, GA, Danny Hunt of Deerfield, Paul Hunt of Bradenton, FL, Roy Hunt of FL and Ivan Hunt of Garrettsville, Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by; his wife, Helen Carmen on May 22, 2005 and a brother Wyatt Carmen.
Services will be held at, Carl W. Hall Funeral Home on Friday, January 22, 2010, at 11:00 AM, Rev. Gerald Davison will officiate. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, 1-21-2010 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
