Obituary:

John Butchko, 97 years old, of Warren, Ohio, died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 1:00 AM at the home of his daughter.

 

He was born July 31, 1912 in Lamberton, PA, the son of the late John and Mary Komar Butchko.

 

John was a 1931 graduate of Farrell High School and was retired after 30 years of service from Wean as a welder.

 

John was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church. Following retirement, John was a volunteer teacher of welding at Trumbull County JVS for 25 years, receiving many volunteering awards including a national award. He enjoyed bowling, woodworking, farming and was an avid sports fan. He liked to bowl..

 

Survivors include his daughter, Grace Stefancin of Warren; three grandsons,Carl (Diedra) Cvetkovich of Medina, Brian Stefancin of Newton Falls and J. J. (Jennifer) Stefancin of Greenville, SC; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Natalie and Olivia Cvetkovich and Evan and Jas Stefancin.

 

Mr. Butchko was preceded in death by his wife, the former Grace Louise Hewitt on November 2, 2006, they were married on August 21, 1935; one daughter, Gloria Cvetkovich; one grandson, Timothy Jay Cvetkovich; one sister, Florence Hazuda; his son-in-law, James Stefancin.

 

The Funeral Liturgy will take place at the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church at 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 28, 2010 where family and friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Bachofsky and Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop will officiate the service.

 

Visitation will be held at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6-8 PM, where a Panachyda service will take place at 6:00 PM.

 

Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park.

 

Family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, 5000 East Market Street, Suite #19, Warren, Ohio 44485.
