Obituary:Alfred Vincent Campana, 89 years old went home to be with the Lord Tuesday February 2, 2010 at 4:30 AM at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Campana was born June 16, 1920 in Warren, Ohio the son of the late Donato and Rose DeSantis Campana. He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and was retired from the City of Warren after 30 years of dedicated employment. In his youth he loved to box, golf and fish. Alfred Campana was a World War II veteran of the US Army where he received the American Defense Ribbon, ETO Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal for his service. He loved his country and served proudly. His patriotism was contagious and he loved family gatherings to be themed "Red, White and Blue." As he entered his golden years he sought hobbies like drawing, handy work, relaxing in his yard and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Mr. Campana is survived by his wife Dorothy Derr Campana, the love of his life, whom he married in 1944. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on December 27th. Also surviving are two daughters; Deborah Vendemia and Judy Hayes both of Warren, two sons; Daniel and William Campana of Warren; 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Joe, Bob and Daniel Campana and a sister Edith Fancher. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Natale and a brother Ray Campana.
Alfred was raised Catholic and in 1986 he received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. His strong faith in God was inspiring to all. He will always be remembered for his kindness, honesty and selflessness and will be so very sadly missed until we join him in heaven.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, February 5th at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening February 4th and again from 9:00AM until service time on Friday. Burial will be at the All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
