Obituary

E. Laverne Lohr, 88, of Lordstown, passed away early Saturday morning, December 29, 2018, at Brookdale of Austintown.

She was born March 24, 1930 in Carter county, KY, a daughter of Otha and Florence (Creech) Binion.

Laverne was a 1948 graduate of Lordstown High School, and was employed with the Lordstown School District, where she served as treasurer for 25 years, prior to retiring. She had previously worked for General Electric and St. Joseph's Riverside Hospital.

She married Richard M. Lohr on September 16, 1950. They shared 68 years of marriage and many happy memories together. He survives her.

Laverne was a past member of the Lordstown Christian Church. She was also a member of SCOPE and the longtime treasurer of the Lordstown Historical Society. Laverne was one of the first female drag racers in the area, and she enjoyed racing with her husband. She also enjoyed crafts, shopping, and traveling.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Richard M. (Becky) Lohr, Jr. of Liberty; a sister, Dolores Rahde, of Austintown; and two grandchildren; Richard M. (Nicole) Lohr, III, of Girard; and Shana Lohr, of Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, who died shortly after birth.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren, with Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to services, from 10 - 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in the Lordstown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that material contributions be made to the Lordstown Christian Church, 6370 Tod Ave. SW, Warren, OH 44481, in Laverne's memory.
