Jack W Switzer Sr., 83, of Cortland, OH died August 8, 2014 at UPMC Horizon Greenville. He was born June 19, 1931 in Gustavus, OH, a son of the late Clinton and Cora (Fifer) Switzer. He married the late Marie (Adams) Switzer on December 13, 1952 and lived happily together until her passing on May 12, 2012.

He graduated from Mecca High School in 1949, and soon enlisted in the United States Marines serving in the Korean War.

Jack was a member of Mecca Community Church where he was also an Elder and also a member of the Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County, and a 20 year member of the Mecca Volunteer Fire Department. Jack was a pilot, enjoyed wood carving, loved farming, and helping others. During the fall harvest he enjoyed hauling grain to Deerfield

He is survived by his son, Jack W (Linda) Switzer Jr. of Orwell, Ohio, daughters; Vickie M (Eugene) Bower of Vernon, Ohio, and Tina M (Paul) Eckenrode of Newton Falls, OH, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marie Switzer, parents, brother, Dick Switzer, and sisters; Dorothy Holko and Elva (Billie) Lee.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Charles Kindle will officiate. Friends may call from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on August 12, 2014 at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Interment will be in West Mecca Cemetery, Mecca, OH.
